Chicago Cerebral Palsy Attorneys

Published by Angelica Mendoza

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common brain injury that can be caused by complications during child birth. Cerebral palsy also can occur before or after delivery. If your child has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and you believe it was caused by your doctor’s negligence, contact the Chicago Cerebral Palsy attorneys at SHEA LAW GROUP to discuss your case. Our attorneys continue to help clients and their families obtain compensation for damages sustained as a result of medical negligence.

WHAT IS CEREBRAL PALSY?

Simply stated, cerebral palsy is caused by damage to the parts of the brain that control muscle movement and coordination. The extent of the physical limitation depends on which part of the brain has been damaged and the extent of the damage. Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive disorder, which means that someone with cerebral palsy does not get worse over time. However, the symptoms of the disorder can change over time.

The onset of cerebral palsy has been attributed to several causes that can occur during pregnancy, delivery or within the first years of a child’s life. These include:

  • Mother’s use of harmful medications during pregnancy
  • Bacterial meningitis
  • Lack of oxygen
  • Bleeding in the brain
  • Genetic disorders
  • Insufficient blood flow to the brain during or after brain development

The symptoms of cerebral palsy may take time to manifest in a child. For example, some of the warning signs that a child may have cerebral palsy include slow development in terms of rolling over, crawling, talking; abnormal or decreased muscle tone; unusual posture and poor coordination; and vision or hearing problems.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Our lawyers know that cerebral palsy medical malpractice claims can be very difficult to prove because there may be more than one wrongdoer (sometimes called a “tortfeasor”) which is why retaining an experienced medical negligence attorney can be so important. The right Chicago personal injury lawyer can also deal effectively with insurance companies and medical experts.

WE DON’T GET PAID UNLESS YOU DO

Damages recovered from a cerebral palsy claim can include cost of medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, future damages and punitive damages. The attorneys at SHEA LAW GROUP aggressively pursue every avenue to ensure you are properly compensated for losses as soon as possible. Our representation costs nothing unless you are compensated for your injuries. Please call us toll free at    877-365-0040 or contact us online for a consultation.
