Joseph Patrick Shea
Chicago Personal Injury Attorney Joseph Patrick Shea
Joseph Patrick Shea has been a plaintiff personal injury attorney since 1991, bringing 20 years of trial and litigation experience to the matters he handles. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and Saint John’s University. Mr. Shea holds a bachelor of science degree in biology with a pre-med emphasis.
After working for other Chicago litigation law firms– trying over 75 cases and obtaining million dollar settlements and verdicts– Mr. Shea founded his own firm in 1997. As the founder of SHEA LAW GROUP, he has successfully handled many high-profile personal injury and wrongful death cases since the firm’s inception, including cases involving traumatic brain injury and catastrophic injuries. Mr. Shea has also successfully litigated cases involving personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, construction negligence and automobile accident litigation.
The firm now has grown from a solo practice to five attorneys and eight paralegal and support staff members. Because of its frequent trial schedule, Shea Law Group has opened a downtown office at 39 S. LaSalle, although it is proud to maintain its primary neighborhood office location where it all began, at the corner of Fullerton and Western Avenue.
Mr. Shea and his wife Erin (who also works at the firm) are longtime Chicago residents. They are kept busy with their three children and are very involved with their parish and children’s school, Queen of Angels. In addition, Mr. Shea is committed to helping the community foster enriched relationships between the local businesses and its residents. Joe is a longtime member of the Board of Directors for the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce- having served as its President for four years. He also enjoys coaching soccer in the summers.
In the course of his career, Mr. Shea’s dedication to his craft has brought numerous successful outcomes for his clients, including:
- $2.5 million for a construction accident
- $2 million settlement for wrongful death
- $955,000 verdict for a pedestrian struck by a moving van in a crosswalk
- $1.3 million verdict for a wrongful death of a minor pedestrian
- $600,000 settlement in a malpractice case for a fall from a MRI table
- $300,000 settlement for a five-year old girl who was attacked by a pit bull
