At Shea Law Group, we take great pride in the achievements of our team members. We are excited to share that Jacqueline Perdea, our senior paralegal, was recently featured in Chicago Latina Magazine. This well-deserved recognition showcases her leadership and dedication to serving her community.
A Lifelong Advocate for Community and Justice
Jacqueline grew up in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, where she watched her parents build a small business from the ground up. This instilled Jacqueline with cultural pride, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to helping others.
Her educational path led her to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Here, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Latino/a Studies. Jacqueline’s values, which took root during childhood, grew even stronger at this time. These values would later prove invaluable.
She joined Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, where her passion for public service continued growing. Her belief in community involvement was clear. She volunteered as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor. She also worked with local nursing homes.
A Strong Foundation in Law and Advocacy
Jacqueline’s professional career began with internships at notable corporations such as CNA Insurance, Bank of America, and Pederson & Houpt Law Offices. These roles honed her skills and prepared her for a successful career as a litigation paralegal at several prestigious Chicago law firms. Today, Jacqueline is a senior paralegal at Shea Law Group in Chicago, where she applies her expertise to support her community further.
Breaking Barriers as a Leader in Berwyn
Jacqueline’s leadership skills soon transitioned into public service. In 2021, she made history as the first Latina elected Berwyn Township Assessor and Health Board Treasurer. In this role, she has spearheaded initiatives that directly impact the lives of Berwyn residents, including the following.
- Public Health Projects: Made health education accessible to the community by launching initiatives like a multi-sports turf field and the “CPR for All” program.
- Property Tax Advocacy: Educating residents on property tax relief, advocating for reform, and ensuring fair assessments.
- Bilingual Workshops & Social Services: Expanding accessibility for Spanish-speaking residents and helping families navigate essential services.
This was all accomplished while Jacqueline balanced her life as a dedicated mother, community leader, and Berwyn Blazers soccer mom. As she seeks re-election in February 2025, Jacqueline remains committed to expanding her work in economic justice, health advocacy, and social equity.
How Jacqueline’s Passion Benefits Shea Law Group’s Clients
Jacqueline’s feature in Chicago Latina Magazine is a testament to her unwavering dedication to helping others navigate complex systems. At Shea Law Group, her competence and dedication are on display daily. Her ability to connect with people, break down complicated processes, and fight for justice makes her a valuable asset and friend.
For Spanish-speaking clients and those in underserved communities, Jacqueline’s presence at Shea Law Group ensures they feel heard, supported, and empowered as they seek legal representation. Her bilingual skills, combined with her deep understanding of Chicago’s diverse communities, help bridge the gap between clients and the justice they deserve.
