A jury returned a verdict in favor of Yvonne Jones, who was struck and fatally injured by a semi tractor-trailer while crossing 79th Street at WEntworth Avenue in Chicago. The trial lasted eight days in Cook County and Joseph Shea represented and tried the case for Yvonne’s family.
Yvonne Jones was 14 years old. She was running across 79th Street in front of the bus she had just exited, when she was struck by the truck.
The $1.3 milion verdict was reduced to $650,000 after a 50 percent reduction for contributory negligence by the teen.
